Chapter 12 to end page 275

When Geel Piet gives Peekay the present of the boxing shoes and says they are from 'the People' and that 'the People' love him and want him to win his fight...what people does he mean?
What impact might this have had on Peekay?
What did Peekay prove by overcoming overwhelming odds to beat Killer Kroon in the boxing final?
Symbolically, what will Peekay's victory mean to Geel Piet and 'the People'?

  1. What Geel Piet means by ‘The People’ are all the people who have faith in Peekay and believe that he can do whatever he sets his heart to do.
It would have a big impact on Peekay because people want him to win and he’s going to try and win for them so they would carry on supporting him and that he has a lot of people that are willing to use their money to buy Peekay boxing shoes.
Peekay proved that he could do anything that he could set his mind to and that he can practise and he will get better.
It would mean that Peekay’s victory would be something to celebrate among Geel Piet and the people and that they would carry on supporting Peekay and that they would always have faith in Peekay.

  5. I think the present he gave them was from all the people that helped him train. I think that they gave him the shoes because they knew he was a lot smaller than the rest of the boxers so maybe the shoes would help him.

I think that the impact this has on Peekay is very big because he had never been given a gift like that. I think that he was very grateful that they gave the shoes to him especially because it made him feel like Lieutenant Smit Geel Piet really did believe in him.

I think that he proved that little CAN beat big. He may be small but he danced with his feet just as Geel Piet had told him to. I think that the fact that all the people who helped him train believed in him helped him overcome the odds of beating killer Kroon.

I think that it will mean that they too can do things they never thought they could. Peekay is a very good example of someone following their dreams although they may seem scary.

  6. This may have a big impact on Peekay because he has never had a present as great as that before. It means a lot to Peekay to get a present this great.
